San Carlos Red-on-Orange Smudged Jar
Salado; Roosevelt Redware; large jar; 1200-1400 A.D.
Jar with a hemispheric base, rounded shoulder that arches to a restricted neck and slightly flared rim. The zonal banding between the shoulder and neck has a burnished red-on-orange decoration that features fringed plaited blanket motifs. Five isolated images of quadrupeds are painted below the curve of the shoulder.
