Black Mesa Black-on-White Olla
Anasazi (Prehistoric Pueblo); Tusayan Whiteware; large olla; 875-1130 A.D.
Vegetal Paint, Kayenta Series. Gray paste, quartz sand temper, thin white slip, broad lines, dots, large solid elements, simple elements. Jar with a high thick shoulder, restricted subconoidal neck and direct rim. The upper half of the jar has zonal band decoration on the shoulder and neck that feature solid black pendant elements and opposing angles, some of which are elaborated with dot or fringe ticking.
